Jim Leandro Cano
Jim is a licensed agriculturist and real estate broker with a degree in BS Agriculture major in Agricultural Systems from the University of the Philippines Los Banos. He is currently taking up a Masters degree in Development Management and Governance from the College of Public Affairs and Development, UPLB.
He is the Country Representative of Young Professionals for Agricultural Development (YPARD) Philippines. Formerly, he was a research assistant at Next Generation, a British Bioenergy Consultancy working closely with World Agroforestry Center (ICRAF) Philippines.
Currently, he is a Teaching Associate at the Agricultural Systems Institute, CAFS, UPLB, handling various Agricultural Systems and Extension courses, one of which is Innovations and Entrepreneurship in Agriculture.
His knack for agribusiness caused him to venture into oyster mushroom farming for a short while before he started post-graduate studies and working with the university. He believes that a systems perspective is key to sustainable agricultural development, as well as bringing youth back into global agriculture.
